How to avoid and remove fingerprints on your polymer clay before it is baked, so there is less finishing work required later on.
* Use cornstarch or water for 'erasing' fingerprints and other small flaws on your clay's surface.
* Use latex gloves if you like. I personally don't like working in them since my hands get too sweaty inside the gloves.
Corn/potato starch
Get some on your fingers, put them on the surface and smooth them on the clay. It also polishes the clay while you’re doing this.
Smooth out / sand away the finish
Spray a little bit of water on the surface and remove the fingerprints
Place the charm in the refrigerator for a little bit, take it out and quickly smooth it with your finger until it’s back to room temperature.
Acetone – a product you can find from paint store, rub in on your clay and it’ll remove the fingerprints! It can remove shinny spots on the bottom of your pieces after baking on a tray.
